GKN Litigators Win Five Motions in One Day
On January 23, 2026, GKN litigators led by Kari Parks secured five wins in two Supreme Court cases.
In the New York County Commercial Division, GKN is representing a closely-held corporation and its two operating shareholders against corporate dissolution and 18 other claims brought by the widower of the corporation’s third, 50% shareholder. Within weeks of being retained, Kari and associates Genesis Torres and Tim Curtis filed papers opposing plaintiffs’ motions for temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction and disqualification. GKN also guided our clients to exercise their BCL 1118 right to purchase the estate plaintiff’s interest in the corporation, allowing our clients to move to stay the Commercial Division dissolution proceedings. Justice Robert R. Reed ruled in our clients’ favor on all three of those motions and referred all 19 of plaintiffs’ claims to a Special Referee, clearing the way for our clients to more efficiently, inexpensively part ways with their former partner’s widower.
Meanwhile, in Westchester County Supreme Court, Justice Marx simultaneously granted our motion to dismiss one defendant’s counterclaim and denied the other defendant’s motion to dismiss our clients’ complaint, giving our clients the unequivocal upper hand as the dispute proceeds.
